Paid Up and Ready To Go
So, that’s me signed up for a paid Bearblog account 😎.
I’ve resisted the temptation for quite a while now but in the never-ending quest to reduce my internet presence (things deleted so far: tumblr, substack, blogger, twitter, mastodon, bluesky, at least two dormant wordpress blogs, vsco, and at least one instagram account) I have discovered one more I can get rid of: Adobe!
I host a portfolio over at inkpolaroids.org. The idea was to make that the online home my photography but to be honest, I don’t do that much photography any more, and what I do take is not worth sharing. It’s certainly not worth the amount I pay for it every month. I keep it on mainly because I use Lightroom Classic (the mobile version of Lightroom) to edit the photo’s on my phone.
I also have things like Photoshop and Lightroom but my computer is getting on a bit and cant handle the processing power needed for most of the Adobe suite of tools. But I found out today that Snapseed now also handles RAW files, although you need to convert them to DNGs first and upload them to Google Drive if you want to access it on the road. I use OneDrive but for some reason Snapseed refuses to acknowledge its existence …
So now that that’s a possibility, Snapseed, there’s no real case for keeping Adobe on, and for the amount I am saving in Adobe yearly subscriptions I can get a bearblog.dev account, and host my images here. I might even be tempted to get rid of my other Instagram accounts, no one ever goes there anyway. If nothing else, I can finally use the domain I bought a while back, lifeonadeadplanet.com. It has a certain ring to it, no?
No?
Anyway, so that’s the plan.
Does anyone know, btw, if there’s a limit on how many images you can store here?
So yeah. I am discoverable now. Not sure how I feel about that, other than that I had better start keeping this blog updated. There’s not a lot here, yet, not until I figure out what I am going to write about. And also follow a few people.
At the risk of sounding like a bit of a rant, I’ve been blogging off and on (mostly off) since the late 90s. I was a member off a few webrings like Scottish Blogs and Blogging Brits - anyone mind of those? - sites now long gone, sadly. I also ran a blog about Scottish Football, voted the 12th most important football blog by The Times no less. But I have all that up for reasons that escape me but the urge to write, to spew my nonsense into the overcrowded room that is the internet, has never left me. So this is attempt #13521 at starting and keeping a blog. Let’s see how this goes.
For now, nice to be a paid up member. Come and say hello, assuming that’s even possible here, no idea, didn’t read the small print. First job is finding a few people to follow. Second job is finding out how the gallery thingie works here. After that, it’s all about the writing, right?
See ya!
Music I Listened To Today
- A Trip Hop Playlist 🔗 - I didn’t create this one, I got some app to do it for me. I’m kinda lazy and also very unimaginative.
Podcasts I Heard
- The Daily 🔗- if only to hear the nonsense yer man Trump came up with theday.
Videos I Watched
- The Rise and Fall of Tesla Truck 🔗 - Discovered this guy a few weeks ago, he does these really amazing business-ey videos about companies that tanked, which is always quite funny to see. Especially this thing, the Tesla Cybertruck, surely the biggest load of wank ever festered on society (see also: Reform)
