Life On A Dead Planet

Notes from the home office

Listening to: The Rolling Stones, all the albums from 'The Rolling Stones' (1966) to 'Between The Buttons'(1967). I stopped there because after that they get all psychedelic (i.e., shite) before they returned to form with 'Beggars Banquet (1968).

K. spotted an undertakers car at the end of the street when she was coming home from her nightshift late last night, so we're all wondering who's died. My bet is on two doors down, she's not been looking too fresh lately. Death does that to you. Otherwise it's our next-door neighbour who is also not doing too well. He's been in a home now since last October when he had a nasty fall and nearly amputated his ankle in the process. In between he's had every disease overweight men in their 70s can have and, as we know, that's a hell of a lot of diseases. Anyway, I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

In other news, I plucked up the courage to book my trip to London. Three days on my own, should be fun. I've asked a few chatbots to come up with an itinerary for a 56 year-old man that's not that gone on walking and who has been to London loads of times and has done all the touristy sites and who just want to walk around, taking the odd photograph and just 'be there', if you know what I mean.

No expectations, no need to do anything, no measurements or expectations of success (like "you must take good photographs"), just going there to enjoy myself.

I actually feel very brave for doing this. I mean, London is no expedition to find the source of the Nile but still, I am used to going everywhere with C., or the kids, so doing this still feels like an adventure, but without stress of not speaking the language, or ending up in an alley with one kidney missing.

I want to go to Hampstead, ever since I played the game. So that's in the planning. I also wanted to visit Freemason's Hall for the tours but they're all booked up so I'll have to give that a miss.

Other than that, a boring Friday. Not sure if there's another episode of The Pitt before the day is out. Also, we started watching DTF St Louis. It's really good, have you seen it?

Itinerary is a hard word to spell. Took me three attempts before I gave up and let autocorrect work its magic.

Ok, that's your lot for today. Off you go, your dinner is getting cold.
